The City of Santa Cruz Marine Rescue Division is now recruiting for the position of Beach Lifeguard I.

Tryout dates for 2016 will be March 5th and March 12th. Please arrive at Lifeguard Headquarters on the wharf at 8:00am for check-in.  Testing will begin with a 1,000m swim at 9:00am sharp.  Completed applications can be turned in at time of tryouts.  

If you successfully pass the physical portion of the testing process, you will be scheduled for an interview on the afternoon of March 6th or March 13th respectively.

Please note that in order to try out you must:

Be age 18 (or turning 18) by December 31st, 2016

Have a valid California Driver’s License and bring proof of safe driving record (printed from DMV not online)

This is an amazing job opportunity for those that are interested in marine rescue, public safety, and working in an outdoor social environment. Lifeguard 1 serves as a promising start for those interested in future careers in firefighting, healthcare, education, and parks & recreation amongst others. It is also the first step in becoming a Junior Lifeguard Instructor.
